EARLIER: POLICE are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 17-year-old autistic boy who has vanished from Varsity Lakes for the second time in 12 months.
Samuel Hitch was last seen around 12.30am at a home in Imperia Parade, and was noticed missing around 6am Monday morning.
Police hold concerns for his well being as he has a medication condition and has not contacted family and friends.
He’s known to frequent local areas around his home including the markets and Robina Town Centre, but police said he may be attempting to make his way to Sydney.
The teen is no stranger to wondering off.
Around the same time last year, his parents feared the worst when he set off on a staggering 900km/h journey to Sydney without telling anyone.
He’d walked 30km to northern NSW where he caught a CountryLink bus to Casino before boarding an 11-hour train to Sydney.
He spent five days in the city of five million people before he was found wondering outside the state capital’s ABC headquarters.
He’s described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 180cm tall with a slim build, short sandy blonde hair, green eyes and some facial hair on his chin.
Police said he may be wearing a Quicksilver dark grey button up, short-sleeved shirt, blue denim Billabong jean, white Diesel shoes, black Aviator sunglasses, a black Element cap and carrying two bags, including an Element back pack.
Anyone who has seen Samuel is asked to contact police.
