“With some of the city’s biggest icons involved, it will be hard to not catch Daffodil Day fever on the Gold Coast!” Ms Mitchell said.

“We’re excited to turn yellow and show our support for the more than 3100 locals on the Gold Coast who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.

“A bright splash of yellow does more than light up the city – it gives hope for better treatments, hope for more survivors, and hope for a cancer free future.

“You can don yellow and show you care about beating cancer too – just like Jupiters Hotel & Casino, Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa and Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach by getting involved this Daffodil Day.”

The daffodil is the international symbol of hope for those touched by cancer, as it blooms at the end of winter and heralds the return of spring, vitality and growth.

The Daffodil Day, Cancer Council Queensland hopes to raise $1.7 million to support its vital work in cancer research, education and patient support services.

You can purchase Daffodil Day merchandise from Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa or at your local shopping centre, train and bus stations on the official day, August 22. For more information, visit daffodilday.com.au.
