Gold Coast Treasure: Daphne Pirie

Gold Coaster Daphne Pirie AO MBE has dedicated her life to the promotion of women in sport and the pursuit of sporting excellence.

Not only is she a celebrated performer in hockey, golf and track and field, she was also the founding president of Womensport Queensland, the first female vice-president of the Queensland Olympic Council, a board member of the Queensland Academy of Sport and president of the Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame.

She has had a decorated career, receiving numerous awards for her achievements including the IOC Women and Sport Trophy in 2011.

myGC was given exclusive access to Daphne’s home at Royal Pines, which is somewhat of a shrine to her outstanding achievements.
