Gold Coast’s Jack Freestone has been knocked out of the Tahiti Pro Teahupo’o, leaving just one Aussie left in the comp.
There were high hopes Freestone could make the quarter finals, after he defeated 11-time world champion Kelly Slater in the round of 32.
Though the round of 16 clash against Brazil’s Caio Ibelli proved a tough contest.

Freestone posted two impressive, high-scoring waves.
Though he was bested by Ibelli’s 9.27 and 9.37.
Fellow Aussie Owen Wright is the only Aussie through to the quarter finals, after defeating Frenchman Michel Bourez 18.50 to 18.10.
He’ll be taking on Brazil’s Jadson Andre for a spot in the semis.
