Grass fire breaks out near Harbour Town, Gold Coast

UPDATE @11.45AM | Fire fighters have made light work of a blaze that broke out in Biggera Waters this morning. 

A small grass fire broke out near Harbour Town Premium Outlets just before 11.00am, calling three fire trucks to the scene.

Firies had the blaze under control within minutes.

It’s still not clear what may have sparked the blaze.

EARLIER @11.00AM | A grass fire has broken out in Biggera Waters this morning, right near Harbour Town Premium Outlets.

Emergency services rushed to the corner of Brisbane Road and Olsen Ave just before 11.00am.

Three fire fighter crews are currently on scene, though the blaze isn’t expected to spread too far.

It’s unclear what sparked the blaze.

The rural fire service is warning that there will be smoke in the area for some time.

It comes as fires across the state prepare for worsening conditions, with temperatures heading into the late 20s today and into the early 30s tomorrow.

The Gold Coast’s fire danger rating has been escalated to ‘very high’.
