Holiday tragedy as man drowns at popular waterfall

A MAN has drowned at a popular waterfall in the Grampians National Park.

Police were called to MacKenzie Falls at Zumsteins just after 5.00pm on Boxing Day following reports a man had fallen into the rock pool.

A witness entered the water and attempted to rescue the man however was unable to reach him.

The body of the man, a 27-year-old New Zealand national, was recovered by Police Search and Rescue shortly before 1am this morning.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
