QFES Station Officer Russell Von Nida said it was a difficult blaze to fight.
“The main problem was water because we’re so far away from the road here we had to have other vehicles relay water in to keep the main appliance topped up so we could actually fight the fire,” he said.
A man suffered burns to his feet and suspected smoke inhalation and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Forensic investigators were due to return to the scene this morning to try and determine the cause of the blaze.
Emergency accommodation was being organised for the family.
