Homeowner turns the tide on burglar, locks him in bathroom

A FATHER has turned the tide on a burglar who broke into his family’s home in Melbourne overnight after locking him in a bathroom and dialling triple zero.

The man, his wife and their two children were asleep inside their Bendigo Street home in Prahran when the intruder forced his way inside just before midnight.

It’s understood the man got up to investigate and found the offender in the bathroom. Police said the homeowner trapped the burglar inside and called triple zero.

Officers attended within minutes and arrested the man, police said.

Thankfully, the occupants of the home were not injured in the incident.

The intruder, a 35-year-old man with no fixed address, has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
