Today is National Tree Day, with locals encouraged to get ‘digging and planting’.
A tree-planting session is being held at The Spit this morning, just opposite the Sea World entrance, starting at 8am.
Friends of Federation Walk is hoping to have at least two-hundred people attend, breaking last year’s record of 150. They suggest tree-planters wear sun protective clothes and sturdy shoes, and bring lots of enthusiasm!

Organiser Lyn Wright says locals will reap the rewards of improving the coastal reserve at The Spit, by being able to enjoy peaceful walks through the area and observe wildlife.
