UPDATE | ‘Severe weather’ cuts power to northern Gold Coast properties

UPDATE @ March 15 2019 4.50pm | PROPERTIES on the northern Gold Coast have lost power, as a severe weather system moves across the region.

According to the Energex website, 971 homes and businesses are affected.

The suburbs hit hardest include Pimpama, Ormeau and Norwell.

Around another 8,000 properties across the Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Logan City and Moreton Bay regions have also lost power due to the severe weather.

Warnings issued for ‘very dangerous’ storms

While in Palm Beach, six properties are still without power. Crews have been working to fix that issue since about 2pm.

EARLIER @ March 15 2019 3pm | ENERGEX crew have managed to fix a power outage that had affected hundreds of residents on the southern end of the Gold Coast.

The power was cut to 1,129 Palm Beach properties just before 2pm on Friday.

Energex reported all except for 6 properties had the power back on by 3pm.

The website states that there are “emergency repairs in-progress” for the final few properties.
