UPDATE at 4:10 PM | FIVE-HUNDRED buildings remains without power on the Gold Coast as wild winds continue to lash the city.
The worst affected suburb is Mount Nathan, behind Nerang, where 306 customers are blacked out.
A further 170 are affected in Yatala and Stapylton, while 42 properties are without power in Maudsland.

Energex says the majority of the outages are due to severe weather.

Meanwhile in Mudgeeraba, crews are carrying out emergency repairs to restore power to 28 homes following a house fire.
Earlier, more than 1600 lost power in and around Currumbin, Mudgeeraba, Tallebudgera, Ashmore and Benowa.
EARLIER at 12.00 PM: More Gold Coast homes and businesses are without power as strong winds cause chaos across the city.
1,657 customers are currently blacked out.
The majority of those are in Currumbin Valley and Currumbin Waters where 1,187 customers are affected.
Another 99 homes and businesses are out in Mudgeeraba with 97 affected in Tallebudgera and Tallebudgera Valley.
Energex crews have restored power to the majority of affected customers in Ashmore and Benowa however 265 homes are still out in Ashmore.
There’s also still a handful of homes with out power in the hinterland after power lines came down at Springbrook.
FIRST at 9:00 AM: Hundreds of homes and businesses are without power on the Gold Coast this morning including a busy shopping centre.
1,565 customers are impacted with Ashmore the worst affected suburb.
46 streets across Ashmore are without power, while Ashmore Plaza is currently blacked out as well.
Another 118 homes across seven streets in Benowa are also impacted.
Energex says the power outage is under investigation and is unable to say at this stage when it might be restored.
A number of homes in the Hinterland are also without power after a tree brought down power lines.
67 homes are out at Natural Bridge while 37 are blacked out Numinbah Valley.
Energex is also looking into a power outage at Springbrook which has left three customers without power.
