“I almost passed out!” Gold Coast mum’s shock lotto win

A Gold Coast mum is $800,000 richer after marking her Gold Lotto entry with her children’s lucky birthdates.

The Mudgeeraba woman was one of five people across Australia who took out division one in Monday and Wednesday’s Gold Lotto draw.

Speaking to a Golden Casket official this morning, the happy woman confessed she initially thought she had won $8,000, rather than 100 times that amount!

“I’m so excited. I’ve never won anything like this,” she said.

“I just checked this morning to see what the numbers were and I thought ‘those are my numbers!’.

“I thought it was $8,000, which I thought was great, but then I saw it was $800,000. I almost passed out. My husband thought I was joking.

“I still can’t quite believe it.”

The woman revealed that she had marked her winning entry with the birthdates of her children.

“Our lucky number is also 24 so it was amazing to think we won on the 24 October,” she added.

When asked what she plans to do with the money, the mother said a house renovation would be on the cards.

“We’d like to do more to the house and renovate it so this will help with that. It will make life more comfortable,” she said.

The lucky marked System 7 entry was purchased online at thelott.com.
