A STRONG earthquake, measuring 6.6 on the richter scale, has struck off the Indonesian coast.
The quake hit 174km north-northwest of Ternate in Indonesia’s Molucca islands on Monday.
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck at a depth of 60.5km and was followed by a number of aftershocks with a magnitude of 5.0.

Geoscience Australia says it could have caused damage up to 72km away and been felt by people up to 899km away.
There’s been no reports of any damage or injury and there’s no tsunami threat.
