THE New South Wales Sex Crimes Squad is reportedly investigating allegations of sexual assault levelled against Rugby League star Jarryd Hayne.
9NEWS broke the news late on Thursday, leading their nightly national bulletin with the story.
It’s alleged Hayne travelled to a house in the Hunter region on the night of the 2018 NRL Grand Final and had sex with a woman who he had been speaking with on social media.

The woman has since come forward, claiming that she suffered injuries during the encounter. It’s understood she has photographs to support the allegations.
In a statement, NSW Police confirmed they were investigating reports of a woman being sexually assaulted by a 30-year-old man in late September.
The investigation, which is still in its early stages, is being led by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad. No charges have been laid.
It’s understood the NRL Integrity Unit has interviewed the woman.
The fresh allegations come as Hayne defends a civil case in the United States, brought by a woman who claims she was raped by the football player while he was playing for the San Fransisco 49ers.
Hayne has “vehemently” denied those claims.
