L-plater allegedly blows 0.310 after crashing into parked car

A LEARNER driver has been charged with high range drink driving after allegedly smashing his unregistered car into a parked vehicle.

Police say the 41-year-old man was driving a Subaru Liberty west along Russell Street at Woonona around 9pm last night when he allegedly hit the parked SUV.

Local residents who heard the crash came out to see what had happened and managed to reach into the man’s car to turn off the ignition.

The man was arrested at the scene after returning a positive roadside breath test and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he allegedly gave a breath analysis reading of 0.310.

He was charged with High Range PCA, being an unaccompanied learner driver and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

The 41-year-old is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court on 20 November.
