FIREFIGHTERS are struggling to contain a large blaze burning through the Gold Coast hinterland this afternoon.
It’s understood the fire broke out in the Tamborine National Park near Cedar Creek Road, Cedar Creek around midday.
Nine rural crews, including a council water tanker, are on scene, with air support being called in to help contain the fire.

Representatives from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service are also in attendance.
The blaze is now burning near Cedar Creek Road and Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road.
There is no property under threat at this time, however smoke is affecting the areas near Karen Court, Boomerang Road, Goodsell Crescent, Plunkett Road, Waldron Road and Durrant Court.
A large smoke plume may also be visible from parts of the coast.
Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and be mindful of emergency services personnel operating in the area.
Residents are advised to close doors and windows and keep medication on hand if suffering from a respiratory illness.
If residents feel their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
