The ePetition is sponsored by Southport MP Rob Molhoek and has attracted 7,200 signatures since its August launch.
Surveys conducted by the Mayor’s office have demonstrated at least 95 per cent of locals in 72 suburbs support the connection to heavy rail before the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
