Locals reminded of road closures ahead of Seafire Surfers Paradise

Motorists are being reminded a number of roads around Surfers Paradise will closed this weekend for Seafire.

The fireworks and entertainment event is expected to attract around 25,000 people every night and this year there will be a multicultural showcase with local and interstate performers.

The Queensland Police Service says the event, which runs across Friday 31 May and Saturday June 1 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm, will lead to some road closures.

“Queensland Police request road users be patient and avoid this area for non-essential travel during the evenings of Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1,” a QPS statement read.

“We advise anyone attending the event to use public transport where possible and plan for traffic delays.”

Road closures will be in place at the following locations:

  • The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise between the Soul building roundabout and Hanlan Street, Surfers Paradise from 4pm and 9pm;
  • Beach Road and Hanlan Street Surfers Paradise (exit from the Bruce Bishop Park will be assisted by police at this time)

AND

  • Southbound Surfers Paradise Blvd at the intersection with Elkhorn Avenue, Surfers Paradise – both from 7:45pm until 9pm.

Queensland Police request road users be patient and avoid this area for non-essential travel during the evenings of Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1, 2019 and advise anyone attending the event to use public transport where possible and plan for traffic delays.
