M1 crash triggers extensive traffic delays

TRAFFIC has been thrown into disarray on the M1 following a nasty crash on the Gold Coast.

A motorcycle rider reportedly came off his bike in the southbound lanes near Arundel about 2.30pm.

Police and multiple ambulance crews, including the city’s High Acuity Response Unit, are on the scene of the accident near Smith Street (Exit 66).

Paramedics are assessing the rider for various injuries, as well as “upper body pain”.

The incident has triggered major delays in the area, with southbound traffic backed up for 11km.

It’s taking motorists almost an hour to get from Dreamworld at Coomera to Smith Street.

Motorists are being urged to steer clear of the incident or delay their travel.
