Body found during search for missing Gold Coast man

UPDATE @ 2.00 PM | There’s been a tragic end to the search for a young Gold Coast man missing in the Tweed area.

Police confirmed a short time ago that the body of a man, believed to be the missing 21-year-old, had been found.

The young man had been holidaying with family in the Fingal Head area and was reported missing to police this morning.

A massive land and water search involving Police, Roads and Maritime Services, the State Emergency Service (SES), the Westpac Helicopter, and Surf Lifesaving NSW was launched after the boy’s car was found parked near the river at Chinderah.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Identifying features have since been removed from this article.

EARLIER @ 12.00PM | Concerns are being held for the welfare of a young Gold Coast man whose car has been found parked near the Tweed River.

The 21-year-old had been holidaying with family in the Fingal Head area and was reported missing to police this morning.

His vehicle, a red Honda Civic coupe with green p-plates, has since been found parked near the river at Chinderah.

A massive land and water search involving Police, Roads and Maritime Services, the State Emergency Service (SES), the Westpac Helicopter, and Surf Lifesaving NSW is now underway.

The boy is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 168cm tall, about 70kg with an athletic build, and brown hair in a military-style haircut.
