Malcolm Turnbull widens lead as preferred PM in latest newspoll

It’s good news for Malcolm Turnbull today, with the latest Newspoll revealing he’s significantly leading as Australia’s preferred Prime Minister.

The poll, published by The Australian overnight, shows Turnbull has extended his lead over Opposition Leader Bill Shorten by 19 per cent.

The Liberal leader jumped two approval rating points to 48 per cent, while Shorten fell two points to 29 per cent.

Despite the Prime Ministers jump in popularity, the Coalition still trails Labour 49-51 on a two-party preferred basis.
