Man, 20, run over and killed west of Brisbane

A YOUNG man has tragically died after being hit by a car while walking along a country road west of Brisbane.

It happened in the tiny town of Tara, 300km west of the state’s capital, just after 7pm last night.

Police said the 20-year-old was walking along Tara Kogan Rd when he was struck.

The man sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the local hospital but could not be saved.

Police confirmed the man was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arriving.

It’s believed the driver of the car stopped to render assistance and has been questioned by police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
