A man who was filmed allegedly punching an injured kangaroo in a horrific video uploaded to social media has now been charged.
Police say the incident is believed to have happened in the Woomargama National Park south of Holbrook, between Albury and Wagga Wagga, in late January 2019.
Officers were alerted to the video yesterday and immediately launched investigations.

“Yesterday, police were made aware of a social media video circulating, allegedly showing a man punching an injured kangaroo, while those filming cheered and laughed,” NSW Police said.
“The kangaroo later died.”
Following ongoing inquiries, police say an 18-year-old man contacted police around 4pm on Wednesday in relation to the video.
He was arrested at his home on Croft Street in Holbrook and taken to a nearby police station where he was charged with commit an act of cruelty upon an animal and harm or attempt to harm a protected animal.
He was granted bail to appear at Holbrook Local Court on Thursday 12 March.
Police say investigations are continuing, and a further person is expected to be charged.
