Update @11.00am, June 25 2019 | A 24-year-old man will be remanded in custody after appearing in court over the alleged assault in Nerang yesterday.
Harry Magrath briefly appeared in court this morning on several charges including armed robbery and the serious assault of a person over 60.
The Mudgeeraba local told the cold that his wrist was broken by an officer following his arrest, in the watch house.

It’s understood the allegation will be investigated.
Magrath’s lawyer did not apply for bail, and the matter will return to court on July 29.
Earlier @6.30am, June 25 2019 | A 24-year-old man has been charged over the alleged assault of an elderly man in a Nerang chemist yesterday.
Police say the man was allegedly armed with a firearm and a tomahawk, when he walked into a Station Street chemist and demanded prescription medication, just before 9.00am.
A 70-year-old man tried to intervene in the robbery, and was punched several times in the face, suffering minor facial injuries.
The 24-year-old was arrested yesterday afternoon in Carrara, though has since been charged with armed robbery, serious assault of a person over 60, possessing drug utensils, and two counts each of entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and possessing a dangerous drug.
He is due to front Southport court today.
Earlier @1.30pm, June 24 2019 | An elderly man has been punched in the face during a terrifying armed robbery at a Nerang chemist.
A man walked into the chemist on Station St around 8.50am this morning, allegedly armed with a firearm and a tomahawk.
The man threatened a 36-year-old female employee before she was forced to hand over prescription medication.
She was then ordered to lock herself at the back of the property where she then advised a 70-year-old male employee that they were being robbed.
The 70-year-old has then confronted the armed man before being punched several times in the face.
The offender then fled to a vehicle with the stolen medication and was last seen driving up Station St.
The elderly man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with minor facial injuries.
Following investigations, Police this afternoon arrested a 24-year-old Mudgeeraba man in Carrara.
Police say investigations are continuing.
