A man has been charged following an ongoing investigation into the supply of illegal firearms.
The 44-year-old was taken into custody by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad at a carpark on Bayshore Drive in Byron Bay yesterday.
During a search of his vehicle, police allegedly uncovered two pistols, ammunition and $2900 in cash.

“A short time later, investigators executed a search warrant at a home at Kingscliff, where they seized electronic storage devices and computers,” NSW Police said.
The man, who police say is from Kingscliff, was taken to Byron Bay Police Station and charged with two counts of acquire firearm without permit to acquire.
He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.
