Man caught speeding, almost 5x over alcohol limit in school zone

Police have been left shocked after a driver was busted not only allegedly speeding, but driving at almost five times the legal alcohol limit in a school zone yesterday.

Officers were patrolling the Pacific Highway in North Sydney around 3.15pm, when they detected a blue Toyota Camry allegedly exceeding the 40km/h school zone limit.

The driver was stopped and pulled over by police, during which he produced a license that was expired.

He was then subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

The 43-year-old was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station where he returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.246, which is almost five times the legal limit.

The man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for the offences of exceed speed limit over 20km/h in school zone, license expired less than 2 years before and drive with high-range PCA.

His license was also suspended.
