Man charged over Broadbeach attack refused bail

A MAN accused of the violent assault and robbery of a woman outside a unit complex at Broadbeach last week has been refused bail.

Bradley Knudsen appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with a string of offences including robbery with violence and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Police allege the 32-year-old punched a 40-year-old woman in the face outside a set of units on Surf Parade on August 13 after the pair had arranged to meet.

He then allegedly tried to restrain the woman before taking off with her belongings which she had dropped on the floor during the alleged attack.

However, the court heard on Monday that Knudsen claims he was the victim of an attempted robbery.

The case has been adjourned until August 28.
