Man collapses and dies after ‘altercation’

DETECTIVES are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man who collapsed and died following an alteration in Far North Queensland.

The 66-year-old man collapsed at a house on Conroy Street in Ingham, north of Townsville, about 6.30am on Wednesday.

Police were called and tried resuscitating the man but he could not be revived and died at the scene.

In a statement this morning, police said subsequent investigations have revealed the man may have been involved in an altercation with another man shortly before he collapsed.

The second man is described as being roughly 183cm tall and having a dark complexion and solid build.

Police are appealing for anyone who any witnesses or members of the public with dash cam vision from the area around Conroy Street to come forward.
