UPDATE @ 11.30 AM | A Runaway Bay man has tragically died following a jet ski incident near South Stradbroke this morning.
It’s believed the 54-year-old was riding the jet ski on the ocean side of the island when, for an unknown reason, he has fallen from the jet ski and into the water.
Members of the public pulled the man from the surf and attempted CPR before paramedics arrived.

Sadly, he could not be revived and died at the scene.
Police say no other vessel was involved in the incident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

EARLIER @ 10.00 AM | A MAN is in a critical condition after falling from his jet ski into waters at South Stradbroke Island this morning.
Emergency crews were called to the eastern side of the seaway about 7.50am following reports a jet ski rider had come into trouble after falling into rough surf.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said members of the public pulled the man from the water and attempted first aid before paramedics arrived on scene.
A rescue helicopter was also tasked to the island, however was not required.
Queensland Police say they are investigating whether or not the rider may have suffered a medical episode before falling into the water.
