Man critically injured after being thrown through the air in horror crash

A MOTORCYCLIST is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being thrown through the air in a horror crash near Townsville.

The 49-year-old was riding a Ducati road bike towards Ayr from Alva Beach on Friday morning when he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle around 11am.

The man was catapulted through the air after being thrown from the bike when it left the road.

Police said the rider was rushed by ambulance to the Ayr Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
