A man has tragically died after being run over by his own car while sleeping in a swag at a campground at Barooga, New South Wales.
The 20-year-old man and his partner were asleep in a swag at a riverside camping ground – 125km west of Albury – when the incident occurred.
Police say the pair’s 4WD rolled down an embankment and crushed the man in his swag around 9.30pm Saturday night.

Other campers tried desperately to help the man, but he died at the scene.
Officers from the Murray River Police District are appealing for witness and investigating the circumstance surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
