Man dies after car collides with school bus

A man has died after a car and school bus collided in the Lake Macquarie region this afternoon.

About 3.40pm, police were called to Freemans Drive, Cooranbong, after a car collided with a school bus with about 30 school children on board.

The male driver of the car, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene.


None of the children on the bus were hurt and they are currently being moved onto another bus.

Investigations into the crash are now underway.

Freemans Drive is closed in both directions with diversions in place.
