Man dies in scuba diving tragedy

A MAN has drowned while scuba diving at Torquay, southwest of Melbourne.

The man was pulled unconscious from the water near Point Danger about 10am AEDT.

It’s understood he was scuba diving with friends when tragedy struck.

An off-duty police officer performed CPR on the man for around 30 minutes before paramedics arrived and took over.

Sadly, despite the off-duty officer’s best attempts to save the man, he could not be revived and died at the scene.
