Man dies on beach despite frantic rescue effort

A MAN who was found floating face-down in the surf at a beach on NSW South Coast has tragically died, despite desperate attempts to keep him alive.

Emergency services were called to the southern end ofKendalls Beach at Kiama after the man was found floating in the water at around 2.30pm on Friday.

A NSW Ambulance helicopter was dispatched to the scene to winch the man’s body out of the water.

Sadly, though, despite the desperate attempts of members of the public and emergency services to keep the man alive, he could not be saved and died at the scene.

Officers from both the Marine Area Command and Lake Illawarra Police District responded to the incident, along with NSW Ambulance Paramedics and Surf Life Saving NSW.

Police investigating the incident say there is no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

They will now prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
