Man flown to hospital after two-truck crash closes road

A MAN has been seriously burnt in truck fire south west of the Tweed, after two trucks collided sending one careering into trees.

The rigs crashed on Bangalow Road at Bexhill, just north of Lismore, shortly before 9am on Tuesday.

NBN News reports one of the drivers has suffered serious facial burns and was treated at the scene before being flown by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Lismore Base Hospital.

It’s believed he could then be flown to Brisbane for further treatment.

Fire and Rescue NSW confirmed that Bangalow Road has been closed in both directions, near Eltham Road with diversions in place via Eltham Road and Johnston Road.

Drivers are warned to allow plenty of extra travel time.
