Man found tied up dead in Gold Coast unit

UPDATE: A MAN found dead and tied to a chair inside a Varsity Lakes unit this morning is yet to be formally identified.

It’s understood the man’s flatmate made the grisly discovery at the Mulgrave Crescent unit complex not long after 11am.

Forensic officers and police remain on scene, investigating the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death.

Police have said very little about the incident, other than confirming the death was being treated as suspicious. 

Seven News reports both a male and female are assisting police with their inquiries.

The victim – believed to be aged in his 50s – is yet to be identified. 

There’s no further information available at this time. 

EARLIER: POLICE have surrounded a block of units on the Gold Coast where a man’s reportedly been found tied up dead.

Seven News journalist Bianca Stone broke the story, reporting the man’s body was tied to a chair inside the Varsity Lakes unit.

A woman believed to live with the man reportedly made the gruesome discovery sometime before midday.

She’s since been taken away by police where she’ll be formally interviewed.

Scores of police have swooped on the area and established a crime scene, locking down part of the complex.

It’s understood they’re also examining a taxi found parked nearby the unit.
