Man found dead in water tank

A MAN has been found dead in a water tank on a property in northern New South Wales.

The gruesome discovery was made in the tiny town of Dyraaba, in the Northern Rivers region, on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the Sextonville Road property, 25km northwest of Casino, about 1.10pm.

In a statement late this afternoon, police said the tragic incident was a ‘workplace accident’.

Police said the man was found unconscious in the water tank and could not be revived.

The man died at the scene before he could be taken to hospital, police said. His age is not known.

Officers from Richmond Police District attended the scene and have notified SafeWork NSW.

Investigators will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
