A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after he was found lying on the side of a road, unconscious with horrific head injuries in Sydney overnight.
Police believe the 64-year-old man may have been cycling through Parramatta Park before he was found clinging to life on side of Trott Street just after 6pm on Thursday.
He was treated by paramedics before being rushed to Westmead Hospital for emergency surgery.

Hospital staff called police after the man’s condition rapidly deteriorated to a critical state.
Exactly how the man sustained his injuries remains a mystery, with police confirming his bicycle was located undamaged.
Police spent the night canvassing the area for clues, trying to establish a timeline of the man’s movements.
Detectives are now appealing for anyone with information that could assist them with their investigation to come forward and call Parramatta Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
