Man gunned down outside shopping centre

A MAJOR manhunt is underway for a gunman who shot a man in the stomach outside a busy shopping centre on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

It happened in front of shocked witnesses in a car park outside the Currimundi Marketplace about 1.30pm.

It’s understood two men were seen accosting a third man moments before the shooting occurred.


Police said witnesses called Triple Zero after hearing a single gunshot ring out and seeing two men speeding off in a sedan.

The victim, believed to be aged in his 40s, showed up at a medical centre in nearby Battery Hill a short time later, suffering a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He has since been transferred to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene has been declared with detectives and forensic officers investigating.
