Man hit and killed by car outside library

AN elderly man has tragically died after he was run down by a car outside a library on the Gold Coast.

The man, 89, was crossing Guineas Creek Road, outside the Elanora Library near the Pines Shopping Centre, when he was struck just before 2.50pm.

Three ambulances crews, including the High Acuity Response Unit, respnded to the scene near the intersection with K P McGrath Dr.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC ambulance officers arrived at the scene to find the patient in a “ver, very serious condition”.

It’s believed the man sustained life-threateing head injuries and was unable to revived.

In a statement a short time ago, Queensland Police confirmed the man died at the scene before he could transported to hosptial.

Police are in attendance and have closed the road in both directions while the scene is examined.
