Man injured, woman unconscious at Gold Coast home

POLICE are searching for a man following an alleged stabbing and suspected drug overdose at a house on the Gold Coast this morning.

It’s understood passing motorists phoned police after witnessing an altercation on a footpath outside a home on Oxley Drive in Paradise Point just after 9am.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene to find a 46-year-old man with a stab wound to his hand. He’s being treated at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

While further examining the scene, it’s alleged officers found a woman unconscious upon entering the home.

It was not immediately clear whether the woman had suffered a drug overdose or a medical condition, or if she had been assaulted. Her condition is not known.

Multiple police crews including detectives attended the scene. It’s understood the address is visited often by police.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately known.

Police are still reportedly trying to locate a male who fled the scene prior to their arrival. He is believed to be known to the injured man.

Anyone with any information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to come forward.
