Man killed in ‘deliberately lit’ house fire in NSW

A man has been killed in a house fire which police say was deliberately lit on the NSW South Coast.

Emergency crews were called to Leonard Street in Bomaderry around 10.40pm last night following reports of a break-in and fire.

Upon arrival they found the home fully engulfed in flames, with fire crews immediately launching into action and extinguishing the blaze which had unfortunately already destroyed the home and a nearby vehicle.

A 49-year-old man was pulled from the property unresponsive and sadly, despite desperate attempts by paramedics, he could not be saved and died at the scene.

A second man managed to escape uninjured.

A crime scene has since been established at the home, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

Detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, which is being treated as suspicious.
