Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a rock fisherman in the Sutherland Shire yesterday.
About 5pm Saturday 3 October 2015) police from Sutherland Local Area Command and emergency services were called to Wattamolla in the Royal National Park, following reports a fisherman had been washed into the ocean.
Officers were told that the 63-year-old Chinese National had been fishing with his son-in-law from rocks when he slipped and fell into the water. He was not wearing a life jacket.

Police from Marine Area Command were assisted in a search of the water by an Ambulance helicopter and Westpac Lifesaver helicopter by directing police to the man’s location.
Ambulance Paramedics were winched onto the police launch to assist with CPR; however, the man could not be revived.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
