Man killed, woman injured in horror crash

A MAN has been killed and a woman injured in a horror crash near Cessnock, in the New South Wales Hunter region.

The couple were enjoying an afternoon ride on their Kawasaki motorcycle when tragedy struck just after 1pm.

Police said the 59-year-old man lost control of the motorcycle and crashed on Cessnock Road, near Duffie Drive, at Neath.

Sadly, the man could not be saved and died at the scene, police said.

A woman aged in her 50s, believed to be the man’s wife, was riding pillion at the time of the accident.

She escaped with only minor physical injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District attended and have established a crime scene.

Local traffic diversions are in place as officers examine the scene and clear the wreckage.
