Man killed, woman injured in NSW crash

A MAN has been pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in regional New South Wales.

The accident happened at Purlewaugh, 175km west of Tamworth in the state’s north, on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Yuggel and Maranoa roads around 6.50am.

A man believed to be aged in his 30s was critically injured and died before he could be taken to hospital.

A 44-year-old woman survived the collision and was taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.

It was not immediately clear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
