Man perishes in caravan fire

FIRE has consumed a caravan near Mudgee in Central West NSW, killing a man sleeping inside.

The caravan went up in flames on a property off Goolma Road at Guntawang about 5.20am on Saturday.

In a statement, police confirmed a man aged in his 70s died at the scene.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

They have declared a crime scene although say the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

Investigators will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
