Man shot while walking down street

A MAN has been taken to hospital after being shot in the shoulder while walking down a street at Casino, in northern New South Wales.

Police said the men, believed to be aged in his 30s, was walking along Canterbury Street, near Walker Street, about 11pm last night when he was shot by an unknown occupant in a white sedan.

The car then sped off, last seen driving away westbound on Canterbury Street.

The injured man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital. His condition is not known.

Police from Richmond Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Officers spent the night examining the scene and interviewing witnesses.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
