Man spotted towing 17-foot boat down the highway on a mobility scooter

A MAN has been charged after he was allegedly spotted on a mobility scooter, towing a boat along the Pacific Motorway in the NSW Hunter Region.

Members of the public called police after allegedly spotting the 34-year-old on the scooter, towing the 17-foot vessel down the M1 in Belmont, at Lake Macquarie on Friday, October 19.

Following inquiries, the man, who police say had been disqualified from driving, was yesterday charged by way of a Future Court Attendance Notice.

It would have been the Pacific Highway, not the M1. The M1 is on the other side of the lake from Belmont.
