UPDATE: A HOPE Island man who was tasered by police last night has missed his court date today.
The 43-year-old is reportedly still in hospital with injuries and is under police guard.
He is charged with one count of going armed so as to cause fear and two counts of serious assault of police.

EARLIER: POLICE were forced to taser a man who had allegedly armed himself with a knife and a bottle during an incident at Hope Island overnight.
Around 8.30pm police attended a residence in Babirra Street following reports of a disturbance and it will be alleged that on arrival police observed a man go into a house and return outside armed with a knife and a bottle.
A taser was used to subdue the man after he failed to put the weapons down when confronted by police.
The 43-year-old Hope Island man was charged with one count of going armed so as to cause fear and two counts of serious assault of police.
He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
