Man and woman injured in violent robbery at The Spit

Police are on the hunt for a group of people responsible for a violent robbery in Main Beach on Thursday night.

It’s understood a number of people were gathered in a car park at The Spit around 11.00pm when ten cars pulled up.

A man then got out of a ute and approached a 20-year-old man from the group and started attacking him.

The young man tried to run away but the attacker continued to assault him.

A 20-year-old woman tried to intervene but the man also assaulted her before two other women got out of the cars and attacked her before taking her keys and mobile phone and driving off.

The man and woman both sustained facial injuries and were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Investigations are continuing.
